Expat Gym Granny!

🌸 I’m About to Be a Gym-Loving Granny… and Honestly? I’m Thrilled.

There are milestone moments in life: your first paycheck, your first 100-kg deadlift, the first time you walk into a Doha gym and desperately pretend you totally know how their membership system works.

And now… I’m adding a new one.
I’m going to be a granny.
A gym junkie granny, no less.

Some people picture grandmothers as gentle creatures who knit booties and offer unsolicited biscuits. Meanwhile, I’m over here wondering whether it’s too early to buy the baby a tiny resistance band set or a pastel-coloured weighted rattle. (Kidding… mostly.)

🍼 Warm Fuzzies & Protein Shakes

I’ll be honest: when I first heard the news, my heart did the emotional equivalent of a burpee—down, up, shock, joy, slight breathlessness.

Suddenly every kettlebell in Doha looked like the perfect baby toy in disguise. And every workout has taken on a new tone:
I’m training to be the Energizer Bunny of grandmothers.
I fully plan on being the granny who can squat-clean a toddler if necessary. (For safety, I won’t. Probably.)

😂 Funny Realizations That Hit Me Immediately

  • I’m already practicing my future line: “Sweetheart, Granny needs to finish her set before she picks you up.”

  • If this child’s first word is “protein,” I will take full responsibility.

  • I’ve started scouting baby-friendly cafés in Doha where you can park a stroller next to a shaker bottle.

  • I’m genuinely concerned that the baby might call me “Gymma” instead of Grandma. And also delighted by the possibility.

❤️ A New Season, Same Strength

Becoming a grandmother doesn’t mean slowing down—it means adding a tiny new cheerleader to your life.

I picture taking peaceful stroller walks along the Corniche, pushing the pram like it’s a sled-push warm-up. I imagine sharing laughs, snuggles, and one day telling this tiny human stories about life, resilience, and how Doha gyms somehow manage to be both freezing and tropical at the same time.

This new chapter feels warm, bright, and beautifully humbling.
And if that weren’t enough… I already have “World’s Fittest Granny” printed on a tote bag in my online shopping cart.
